Interwetten highlights international growth as revenue hikes in Q1

interwettenimageInterwetten has cited strong performances within German-speaking countries, as well as licensed markets in Greece and Spain, as key drivers behind its year-on-year revenue growth during the three months to March 31, 2016.

Gross gaming revenue for the first quarter came in at €16 million ($18.2 million), an increase of 31% on the amount posted in the corresponding period last year.

Sports betting revenue hiked 29% in the three-month period, based on a margin of 12%, while gaming revenue was also up by 34% year-on-year.

Mobile was responsible for 54% of total sportsbook revenue, as well as 41% of gaming revenue for the period.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rocketed by 86% to €3.9 million, while net profit jumped 89% to €3.4 million.

Interwetten also noted that more than 68,000 clients utilised its services during the opening three months of 2016, with 12,000 first-time depositing customers also making use of its offerings.

Werner Becher, spokesman for the Interwetten board, said: “29% growth in German speaking countries in addition to a strong performance in our licensed markets (75% growth in Greece and 23% in Spain) as well as 51% growth in other markets underlines that Interwetten is very successful in pre-regulated and regulated markets alike.”
