Playtech has begun a trial roll-out of a new virtual sports product with UK bookmaker Coral which could ultimately see the game launched across the operator’s entire retail betting estate.
The “out of the box” Virtual Sports Football Accumulator game aims to replicate real-life accumulator bets. It features four 90-second matches that run simultaneously every five minutes, with players able to choose from a range of betting options.
Users can select one game to view as the featured match, while still seeing updates for the three remaining matches.
It is the solutions giant’s first virtuals product to be launched for the retail market, with games streamed locally via a Linux hardware box solution.
The game will initially be launched in 100 Coral shops in the UK for a three month period. Should this trial prove successful, the game will be made available across the operator’s full retail estate of around 1,000 shops, broadcast via satellite on the Coral TV channel.
The supplier has already launched a number of cross-platform virtual products including football, horse-racing, greyhounds, velodrome and speedway. Playtech claims that its most recent release, Virtual Tennis, is the most realistic on the market. A basketball product is also due to go live later this year.
“We’ve been working round the clock on a retail solution and firmly believe we’ve launched the best product on the market,” Playtech Sports head of virtual Elliott Norris said. “Not only does it play extremely well, it looks great and is extremely simple and cost effective to set up, distribute and deploy.”
“The project was a delivered swiftly and promptly and we’re delighted with the results,” Coral gaming director Mark Kemp added. “Playtech’s new virtual sports retail product adds yet another dimension to the industry leading omni-channel customer experience we have across all channels.”
