Betfred to sponsor Anthony Crolla’s lightweight boxing title fight

Betfred axes over 100 jobs as call centre closesIndependent UK bookmaker Betfred will be the title sponsors of the World Lightweight boxing match, due to take place at the Manchester Arena next month.

The clash between the current World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion, Manchester’s Anthony Crolla and Venezuelan three-weight world champion Jorge Linares, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on September 24th.

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn said he was delighted that Betfred was backing the night of boxing in Manchester.

“This is a real 50-50 clash to determine who is the best lightweight in the world and the fans are in for a real treat on September 24th,” he said.

Betfred chief executive John Haddock added: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a high profile night of boxing including what looks to be a cracking unification between two of the most exciting boxers around.”

Crolla’s WBA world lightweight title will be at stake, as well as the Ring Magazine world championship.

The event will also see boxer John Ryder defend his WBA International Middleweight title against Jack Arnfield, and Isaac Lowe defend his Commonwealth Featherweight title against Tshifhiwa Munyai.
