Interwetten revenue falls just short of €100m in record year

interwettenimageInterwetten boasted of the “most successful year in the company’s history” in its latest trading update, as gross gaming revenue (GGR) increased 25% to €99.5m in 2019, while turnover came to more than €2bn, up 30% year-on-year.

Dominik Beier, who was appointed chief executive of Interwetten in December 2018, said the record result was especially impressive given that the year did not contain any major football competitions such as the World Cup or European Championship.

“This great year 2019 is the result of fantastic teamwork and achievements across all company divisions,” Beier said. A record result, without a European or World Cup and in view of the major regulatory challenges, is absolutely extraordinary.

“Our size and structure enables us to work flexibly and quickly. For us, it is now important to continue to go full power. 2020 is a very important year, which will be marked by the product offensive, the European Football Championship and expansion into new, regulated, markets.”

The year saw Interwetten launch new advertising campaigns across Germany, Austria, Spain and Greece, as well as securing sponsorships with German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Greek Super League, Greece’s highest tier of football.

The operator said that in the first quarter of 2020, “new and exciting features” would be introduced for all Interwetten customers.
