Sportradar signs integrity services deal with Indian cricket

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has signed an agreement with industry supplier Sportradar Integrity Services, to support its anti-corruption unit in monitoring and safeguarding the integrity of matches in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket season.

All matches in the 2020 IPL, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates, will be monitored by Sportradar to detect any betting irregularities.

The supplier will also provide BCCI with a risk assessment built on intelligence and data-driven insights, and if required, BCCI will have the option to call upon Sportradar’s intelligence and investigation services during the term of the partnership.

Sportradar has experience working with organisations such as the Indian Super League and Pro Kabaddi League, as well as some of the biggest leagues and federations globally including Fifa and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

“It is an honour to partner with the BCCI for the 2020 IPL season,” Sportradar Integrity Services managing director Andreas Krannich commented.

“As the global leader in sporting integrity, we hope to provide our expertise and help protect the tournament against integrity related issues. We know that the BCCI takes integrity seriously, and we look forward to working alongside them throughout the tournament and providing our support to their integrity programme.”

In recent years, Sportradar has signed integrity deals with a diverse range of sports in several regions globally, including soccer in the USA with the United Soccer League. It holds similar deals in Southeast Asia with the ASEAN Football Federation, and in Germany with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL), which manages the Bundesliga. It also provides its services to the South American Football Confederation, Conmebol.

The supplier has in recent years signed a number of agreements in the esports world, including with major video game publishers Activision Blizzard and Riot Games. It holds a further agreement with esports tournament organiser, ESEN.
