The Turkish National Lottery’s (Milli Piyango) instant ticket retail and digital gaming systems, supplied by Scientific Games, have gone live across 5,000 retailers, with a plan to double that number by the end of 2020.
The rollout follows Scientific Games agreeing last year to supply instant win products and its retail technology to a joint venture between Italian company Sisal and Turkish Şans Dijital, which won Turkey’s 10-year lottery tender in August 2019.
Scientific Games is rolling out its “Wave” branded terminals and its Open Gaming System platform for digital instant win games.
“We are thrilled to continue our success in Turkey with back-to-back, high-profile projects, both with significant growth objectives focused on developing retail and digital engagement,” SG Lottery chief executive Pat McHugh said.
“Through our collaboration with trusted, longtime partners, Şans Dijital and Sisal, Scientific Games is driving maximum sales and profits to the Turkish Government and bringing great new gaming entertainment to Turkish players.”
Also in August 2019, Scientific Games launched sports betting in Turkey through Şans Girişim, its own joint venture with Şans Dijital, which is owned by Turkish conglomerate Demirören Holding. The supplier said that its sports betting product processed more than $220m worth of wagers during a single week in July.
Last week, Scientific Games chairman Ron Perelman agreed to sell his 34.9% stake in the supplier for more than $900m to a group of institutional investors including FTSE 250 member Caledonia Investments in a deal that will also see two Aristocrat Leisure veterans replace Perelman and his representatives on Scientific Games’ board.
