Playtech expands win2day partnership with bingo launch

Industry giant Playtech has expanded its partnership with win2day, the online gaming brand operated by Casinos Austria subsidiary Austrian Lotteries, to offer a new online bingo proposition to customers in the country.

Under the agreement, win2day will open several standard bingo rooms, as well as standalone versions of popular Playtech Bingo Network brands, including Age of the Gods Bingo, Housey Bingo and Lucky Numbers Bingo.

In addition to the bespoke bingo offering, win2day will also roll out a range of side games, which will now be available as standalone products, including titles such as Dynamite Digger, Fruity Burst and George and the Dragon.

The agreement builds on a long-standing relationship between the supplier and win2day, which has operated a Playtech-powered poker offering since February 2016.

Later that year, the win2day network was also connected to Finnish operator Raha-automaattiyhdistys – now part of Veikkaus – in what was described at the time as an industry first.

“Partnering with Austrian Lotteries to bring online Bingo to win2day players is a fantastic opportunity,” Playtech director of digital bingo Angus Nisbet said. “We’re very excited about the potential of the new Bingo offering in the Austrian market, and look forward to building a long, successful relationship with the win2day brand.”

Juergen Smutek, head of bingo at win2day, added: “Bringing Bingo to the Austrian market has involved unique challenges, but Playtech has ensured we have the right set-up to offer the best standalone Bingo offering to our players – one that is both profitable and satisfies the requirements of our regulator.”

“Working with a supplier as experienced as Playtech, which has built up a leading network in key markets such as the UK, has been a major boost. We look forward to bringing our players a fantastic range of new Bingo content and establishing it as an exciting vertical for our players.”

Sazka, which jointly controls Casinos Austria alongside state investment arm Österreichische Beteiligungs (ÖBAG), said in April it aimed to mitigate the loss of revenue caused by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic through government support, and by migrating players to the win2day online portal.

Sazka said there had been a limited impact on Austrian Lotteries’ sales network. However, all of Casinos Austria’s casinos were closed from 16 March, as were Austrian Lotteries’ gaming halls, and casinos in other territories.
