South African sports betting operator Hollywoodbets has agreed to become title sponsor of the country’s National Women’s League club football competition.
Under the agreement with the South African Football Association (Safa), the 14-team league will be known as the Hollywoodbets Super League.
Hollywoodbets and Safa will also run a series of coaching and administration workshops to help develop grassroots football in the country.
“For the first time, the National Women’s League has a commercial partner,” Safa president Danny Jordaan said. “This investment will further help us to strengthen the clubs in order to accelerate the growth and development of professional women’s football in our country.”
Hollywoodbets’ commercial manager Sandisiwe Bhengu added: “This partnership will spearhead the path to a professional women’s league befitting these rising stars. Sports development lies close to our hearts, so this collaboration aligns perfectly with our goals.”
The operator also has deals in place with a number of other sports teams and properties in South Africa, including KwaZulu-Natal-based rugby union team the Sharks, and holds the naming rights to Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, the home of cricket franchises the Dolphins and Durban Heat.
