Malta Gaming Authority confirms exit of general counsel Sant

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has announced that Yanica Sant has resigned from her role as general counsel with the national regulator.

Sant will leave the MGA to take up a new role in the private sector but remain in office until February 2022.

However, the MGA said that Sant will no longer perform any regulatory, inspectorate or enforcement duties, nor will she sit on any internal committees.

Sant joined the MGA in September 2014 as an intern in the legal department, before going on to become legal advisor, senior legal counsel, head of policy and international affairs, and eventually general counsel in February 2021.

During her time as general counsel, she served on the regulator’s supervisory council, commercial communications committee, fit and proper committee and compliance and enforcement committee.

“The MGA would like to thank Yanica for her sterling work over the last seven-and-a-half years, and her invaluable contributions at all levels of the Authority’s hierarchy and to most high-level projects over that time, including notably the drafting of the regulatory framework which was published in 2018,” the MGA said

“We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavour, confident that she will continue to demonstrate the values which the MGA proudly upholds.”
