Regulatory affairs and technology business Odds On Compliance has announced that Marybeth Butler will join the company as director or revenue audit and Ali Ghanavati as director of technical compliance.
Butler will join the company following her retirement from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), where in 2018 she played an important role in establishing the state’s sports betting regulatory framework.
In 1987, Butler began her career with the New Jersey Casino Control Commission as an auditor – and by 1995 led the revenue certification team. She helped develop auditing strategies for the introduction of online gaming in 2013.
Ghanavati’s most recent role was head of regulatory technology at Fubo Gaming. In this position he oversaw the company’s jurisdictional product compliance strategy and assisted with the business’ launch in several states, including Iowa, Arizona and New Jersey. Fubo shut down its sports betting operation in October.
Before joing Fubo, the University of Buffalo graduate spent 24 years with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, rising to chief engineer before becoming deputy chief of its Technical Services Bureau in 2005. In 2008, Ghanavati left and joined the private sector, starting out as an independent consultant before joining Gaming Laboratories International in 2010.
“We are thrilled to welcome Marybeth and Ali to the Odds On team,” said CEO and co-founder Eric Frank. “Each brings extensive and invaluable industry experience to strengthen our compliance team.”
In January, Odds on Compliance secured new investment for growth plans after a strategic investment from a group led by sports tech venture capital fund SeventySix Capital. Odds On said that it would use the new funding to support its expansion plans, with a focus on data and technology development.
