US online casino games developer MX Digital has entered into a partnership with Gibraltar-based marketing specialist Traffic Generation (TraffGen) to launch free-to-play variants of its branded slot games. The deal will see MX Digital offer operators social casino games based on actors, comedy characters, and other famous personalities such as David Hasselhoff, the Blues Brothers, Hulk Hogan and James Dean.
TraffGen will aid MX Digital by supplying its portfolio of marketing solutions, as well as integrating its marketing technology into the games to aid with the development of the free-to-play products.
MX Digital chief financial officer Ted Lanes said his company’s success and growth in the real-money gaming industry, coupled with its broad portfolio of branded content, made the drive to expand into social gaming a “truly exciting” project.
“Social casino gaming is currently a $1.7bn industry and some have predicted it will be as big as $7bn in a few years,” Lanes continued. “MX Digital definitely plans to be at the forefront with our continued role out of games featuring iconic entertainment figures.”
TraffGen chief executive Andy Caras-Altas noted that working with branded content would allow the partners to leverage the large social media following associated with such brands and personalities.
“Hulk Hogan, for example, has over two million fans on Facebook and over a million on Twitter,” he explained. “We believe there is a great deal of potential in leveraging international brands. The ability to have a conversation with the players will help virality and thereby help to build the social following.”
“Conventional social casinos find it hard to build this virality and we hope that this will drive acquisition in a fundamentally different way for MX Digital,” Caras-Altas continued. “The end result can be to make the most of the social nature of Facebook and to drive traffic more cost effectively.”
