Atari to target online gaming under new strategy

Video game entertainment publisher and producer Atari has unveiled a new corporate comeback strategy as an interactive entertainment production company.

Under the new strategy, Atari will focus on various internet-based entertainment games, including online casinos and real-money gambling.

Despite being widely known for its video game publishing, chief executive officer Fred Chesnais said he is keen for Atari to reinvent itself as an interactive entertainment firm in order to succeed in the digital age.

“Atari is more than a game publishing company; it’s an iconic brand that has established a passionate and timeless culture,” Chesnais said.

“Known across multiple generations around the world, Atari will continue to embrace all audiences. What the company has accomplished over the years is no small feat, but there is more to come.”

In addition to re-launching it nostalgic gaming titles, Atari will seek out new customers through the release of social casinos and real-money gambling.

The news comes shortly after the firm announced a real-money partnership with software company Pariplay and a social casino link-up with FlowPlay.

“We’re looking forward to delivering on our new strategy and engaging with our audience in new ways across multiple channels as the next era of Atari unfolds,” Chesnais said.

“We are leading a rebuilding exercise in a highly volatile industry, so at the same time we are also aware of the challenges that lay ahead.”
