Marathonbet Sportsbook (SBR rating B) has addressed the recent player complaint reported by SBR. In that dispute, a player indicated that a balance of €1466 was in limbo and he was unsure what to do next to receive his funds.
The issue centered around Marathonbet’s Know Your Customer (KYC) process.
The player stated that he previously verified his account ID with the sportsbook, but still has found that his account has been locked from withdrawal.
Sportsbook Review asked a Marathonbet manager for comment after receiving the complaint, and received an update within one business day from the betting site.
Marathonbet has said they are concerned about the player’s identity, and have cited the following section of their account terms and conditions, which all players agree to when creating their accounts:
“If we have any concerns about the identity of a customer, the validity of the address/credit/debit card details quoted or any other details provided we reserve the right to request whatever documentation we deem appropriate to prove the details given, and withhold any payment until we are satisfied of the authenticity of all the details we have been given. Should the details we have been given prove to be false we reserve the right to void any bets placed on this account and to withhold any payments indefinitely.”
The complaint remains open. SBR has asked if the player is able to have any of his personally identifying documents stamped by a licensed notary, such as a bank teller, lawyer, or officer of the law.
