Loto-Québec has become the first Canadian provincial lottery operator to launch an online group lottery service.
The new service will enable the creation of online groups for purchasing Lotto Max, Québec Max, Lotto 6/49 and Québec 49 tickets.
Customers can either create a group of their own and invite people to participate or join an existing group.
The group representative can send invitations to players by email or via social media while the online group tool can be accessed via the Loto-Québec website or the operator’s Lotteries mobile application.
Players that wish to take part must hold a Loto-Québec Espacejeux account while various security controls will be in place to validate a player’s age and location.
Simon Patenaude, vice-president of sales and marketing, said: “We have been offering lottery products online since 2012 and, from the start, customers have asked us for an online group creation option.
“We are pleased to continue the development of our online offerings with this practical tool in order to meet expectations.
“Indeed, we have entirely updated our internet site so as to make it more accessible, complete and fun.”
