The newly-formed igaming jurisdiction of Jersey in the Channel Islands has granted its first remote gambling operator’s licence to Twelve40, a lottery software provider to small and medium-sized operators.
Jersey has just launched its igaming jurisdiction and plans to expand with sign ups across the breadth of the industry, whether they are start ups or established operators. The Jersey government is also offering funding to start ups in a bid to attract more of those types of companies.
Among the features it will offer, the jurisdiction says its igaming proposition will provide the cheapest tier one jurisdiction license costs available, free Disaster Recovery Licenses, no VAT, no online gaming duty, 0% Corporation Tax, a digital hub to support igaming businesses looking to relocate and a world-class regulatory, banking, legal and technology services.
Andy Jarrett, Director of Digital Jersey, commented: “Jersey’s offering has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is now arguably the most attractive of any tier one jurisdiction. Our recently announced highly competitive licensing environment, investment in telecommunications, depth of technology skills and our reputation as a leading finance centre makes us the compelling new option for egaming organisations.”
Jason Lane, chief executive of the Jersey Gambling Commission said, “The change in the licensing system in the UK have seen renewed interest in Jersey as a venue for online gambling, and we are delighted to have been able to grant this licence to Twelve40. The application process has been a very smooth one, and the company has exciting plans for the future.”
