A new joint service offering from online gambling operators WSOP and 888 has overtaken rival firm PartyPoker in the New Jersey internet poker market rankings.
PartyPoker, the online poker brand of internet gaming operator bwin.party, had been the market leader since the state first regulated online gambling in November 2013.
The brand operates in the state through a partnership with land-based facility, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
As reported by iGaming Business, WSOP and 888 last week announced plans to begin sharing players in New Jersey in order to allow customers to gain access to larger online prizes.
The operators now partially share player pools in cash games as well as select tournaments and Sit n’ Go competitions.
Figures from PokerScout.com show that before the liquidity sharing agreement, the PartyPoker and Borgata service boasted a seven-day average of 160 players, with WSOP and 888 some way behind with averages of 110 and 95 respectively.
However, following the implementation of the new agreement, WSOP now leads the market with a seven-day average of 190 players while 888 follows in second place with 170.
