Gibraltar-based platform provider Odobo has released a new customer-facing app for iOS devices which it claims will allow game developers to take an active role in driving the success of their games. Available for download in the iTunes App Store, the Odobo Play app is effectively a showcase of gaming content produced by game studios participating in the Odobo Developer Program.
This includes the likes of Trimark Gaming, Applejack Gaming, Vermantia, Rabcat and Probability Jones among others, as well as Odobo’s own in-house game development studio Wild Game Reserve.
Odobo founder and CEO Ashley Lang called the app a “game changer” for the industry and said that it will change the way players discover games.
“It offers great casino content from multiple leading studios and the choice of free or real-money play with the world’s leading operators,” he said.
The app allows players to browse and discover new casino games by category or game studio. Each game is featured on a profile card with description and preview screenshots.
The games are available for free-play to players worldwide, or for players in approved markets, the Odobo Play app uses geo-location to present an additional option to play the games for real-money (currently UK only). Players currently have a choice of leading licensed casino operators including bet365, Betfair, Unibet and Coral Interactive.
Odobo said that as new games are certified and made available in the Odobo Marketplace for licensing by casino operators, they also become available for play within the Odobo Play app.
Casino brands automatically appear as a real-money play option to players on games they have licensed within the Odobo Play app. Odobo also plans to add in a virtual currency option during the second quarter of this year.
“The app is high-tech while delivering an intuitive and informative experience to players in search of great games,” continued Lang. “We see the Odobo Play app as a games marketing platform for which we have an exciting roadmap of features planned.
“This includes the support for virtual currency play in Q2, which will provide an additional play option for players and yet another new commercial opportunity for our developers.”
In addition to exclusive titles including Castle Builder, Extinction, The Oddventurers and Akaneiro, the app also features optimisations for all iOS devices including the latest generation of iPhones and iPads.
It allows users to sync favourites via iCloud for players with multiple devices, quick app browsing with a shake navigation gesture, as well as sharing options for big wins with friends.
Odobo said that it represents an opportunity for game developers to take an active role in driving the success of their games, with studios able to earn lifetime affiliate commissions for the players they refer to real-money casinos by promoting their titles as available on Odobo Play.
The traffic is driven not only by Odobo’s own marketing spend to promote the app, but by the developers in the program, Odobo’s marketing partners and the content that is published on the Odobo platform.
