Norwegian national lottery operator Norsk Tipping has launched a launched Nabolaget, a new lottery service in the country.
Launched in cooperation with Genera Networks, the draw for the new lottery will take place every Friday night.
Nabolaget, which means ‘the neighbours’ in English, will focus on surprising winners in towns and villages across the country.
While the main winner receives a prize of NOK1 million (€116,075/$132,861), the closest participating neighbours will win secondary prizes ranging from NOK50 to NOK100,000.
A proportion of revenue generated from ticket sales will be donated to various humanitarian and social beneficiaries in Norway.
Maria Sandell, chief executive officer of Genera Networks, said: “We are confident that the game’s combination of simplicity, wide distribution, and high entertainment value will greatly contribute to Norway’s own neighbourly humanitarian efforts.
“Both the TV show’s storytelling style and the game’s social media savvy are unique among all other formats today, and present an exciting step forward for lotteries.”
