Cherry appoints Alexander Pettersson as new CFO

Swedish gaming operator Cherry has hired Alexander Pettersson to serve as its new chief financial officer, replacing Fredrik Burvall in the role. He is described as having a solid background in the iGaming industry, and has co-founded and served as CFO of poker affiliate businesses Abbantina Gaming Group and Betfriends.

Pettersson has also served as global poker sales manager for Betsson, and as a director of gambling consultancy Twin Peaks Ltd.

Pettersson replaces Burvall in the position after the former CFO was appointed acting chief executive of the group in December last year as part of a management reshuffle.

This saw former CEO Emil Sunvisson leave the company after eight years, and Cherry’s co-founder and largest shareholder Morten Klein taking an active role working on business development and new partnerships.

Burvall said that Pettersson’s experience working as a CFO and within the online gaming industry would support Cherry’s continued growth as it looked to increase profitability.

“I’m looking forward to getting started at Cherry,” Pettersson added. “The company has a strong position within online gaming and it is an exciting time to join following some recent acquisitions and a clear revenue building strategy.”
