IGT’s multi-state Powerbucks game pays out first $1m jackpot

US gaming supplier IGT has paid out its first million dollar jackpot through its Powerbucks multi-state wide area progressive jackpot game. Powerbucks is an “add on” to fan-favourite titles such as MegaJackpots that links progressive pools between casinos in participating jurisdictions including New Jersey, South Dakota and Nevada.

The company recently paid out its first $1m jackpot to a lucky player at Paris Las Vegas. The winner, who asked to remain anonymous, was playing the Powerbucks-linked version of IGT’s Ghostbusters Who Ya Gonna Call? and won with a stake of just $1.50.

“It’s extremely exciting to see IGT’s Powerbucks deliver a life-changing jackpot and join the ranks of other IGT millionaire-making themes,” said Joe Sigrist, IGT vice president of global product development and operations. “The fact that this winner won a million dollars on a $1.50 wager is a testament to the Powerbucks promise that players can win big at any bet level. Nobody pays jackpots like IGT.”

IGT’s Powerbucks is currently linked to casinos in Nevada, New Jersey and Deadwood, South Dakota.

In related news, IGT has secured a deal to install more than 500 IGT slot machines and its sbX Floor Manager solution at the highly anticipated new Baha Mar in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Slated to open this month, the 100,000 square-foot Baha Mar will welcome guests with a slot floor comprised of nearly 50 per cent IGT games and a deployment of IGT’s results-driven casino management system, sbX Floor Manager.

“We’re thrilled to bring so many IGT games in combination with our innovative systems to such an esteemed casino project,” said Tim Shortall, IGT vice president of Eastern Region Sales. “IGT’s decades of leadership in the global marketplace give us the tools and expertise needed to deliver a diverse casino portfolio that will appeal to Baha Mar’s international audience.

“Through the deployment of sbX Floor Manager, Baha Mar can further refine and optimize its casino floor and deliver on its promise of the most remarkable casino in the Caribbean.”

Paul Pusateri, Baha Mar chief operating officer, said that the new casino will completely redefine gaming entertainment in the Caribbean.

“We’re building a world-class gaming destination, and it’s imperative that we work with partners who share our same vision and commitment to excellence,” he said. “IGT’s depth of gaming knowledge and breadth of portfolio are the best in the industry and together, we’re creating the ultimate casino experience.”
