IGT secures e-commerce deal with Finnish lottery operator

International Game Technology (IGT) has entered into a partnership with Finnish lottery operator Veikkaus Oy.

Under the agreement, IGT will deliver an enhanced ‘Player Services’ e-commerce solution, while also extending the support and service it provides to the Veikkaus internet and mobile platform until 2018.

Using the e-commerce solution, Veikkaus will be able to access player data from all channels including retail, interactive and mobile.

The lottery operator will then be able to use this data to target personalised and relevant marketing material.

In support of this, IGT will continue to provide the ‘Enterprise Series Anywhere’ interfaces to the Player Services solution in order to allow for future expansion of features and game engines.

“Through this agreement, we will now gain even further flexibility with continued stability,” Veikkaus chief executive officer Juha Koponen said.

“Customer personalisation is key in the current marketplace, and through the Player Services e-commerce module delivered by IGT, Veikkaus will gain a much more agile way of maintaining customer interaction in our interactive and mobile channels.”

Declan Harkin, senior vice-president and chief operating officer international at IGT, added: “Based on IGT’s comprehensive experience in the government-regulated internet market, we are able to provide pioneering lotteries such as Veikkaus Oy with a platform that powers one of the most successful government e-commerce businesses in the industry.

“We believe this vote of confidence by Veikkaus proves the strength of IGT services, and should further provide a meaningful reference point for other lotteries.”
