PokerStars has moved to confirm its stance over the use of third-party software when using its services.
As reported by iGaming Business, the online gaming operator last month hinted that it may reconsider rules regarding third-party assistance software following a series of complaints from customers.
In response to these complaints, PokerStars has now confirmed that it will soon prohibit the use of various software programmes during gameplay.
In a statement, a company spokesperson said the operator will ban the use of “any tool or reference material that offers commentary or advice that goes beyond a basic level, such as stack-size-based starting hand tables, decision trees or heads-up displays that dynamically change based on player action or card values”.
The spokesman also suggested the operator could enforce further restrictions on the use of third-party software over the next few years.
“There is a meaningful probability that within the next year or two our policies will be significantly more restrictive than this,” the spokesman said.
“Our intention is to implement change gradually over time, ensuring that our internal detection and enforcement capabilities are able to keep up with the rules and that the community has adequate time to adjust.”
