International Game Technology (IGT) has been awarded new certification by the World Lottery Association (WLA) in recognition of its commitment to corporate social responsibility standards (CSR) within its lottery operations.
Upon being handed the WLA Associate Member Corporate Social Responsibility, IGT was commended for having established sustainable CSR and responsible gaming programmes as a vendor to the global lottery sector for almost 40 years.
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) performed an external appraisal on IGT, with the WLA-approved assessor focusing on the eight key sections of WLA CSR standards.
These standards comprise research, employee programme, product and service development, remote gaming environment, advertising and marketing communications, client awareness, stakeholder engagement and reporting.
Robert Vincent, senior vice-president for human resources and public affairs at IGT, said: “Responsible gaming is fundamental to our business success and our corporate social responsibility initiatives are part of our DNA.
“These principles govern the protection of our lottery customers and their players.
“It also gives us a unique opportunity to work more closely with our responsible gaming stakeholders, refresh our advertising practices, and involve our employees in unique ways to reinforce the company’s commitment to responsibly delivering growth to the lottery industry.
“We are honoured to be recognised by the WLA as an industry leader in CSR and responsible gaming, and we will continue to evaluate and strengthen the technology and consumer safeguards we provide to our customers.”
