1X2gaming to develop slots based on Caliber Comics titles

UK-based games developer 1X2gaming has entered into an agreement with independent comic book publisher Caliber Comics to develop online slot games from a selection of its titles.

1X2gaming said that it was a “unique” IP agreement which will allow the developer to exclusively release four Caliber Comic branded slots this year, with more to follow in the future.

The first game to be released will be Deadworld, based on the zombie apocalypse comic book which first debuted in 1987 and has since published over 100 comic issues and graphic novels. The three other titles to be rolled out are Legend Lore, Mark Ellis’ Justice Machine, and Caliber’s Sherlock Holmes adaptation.

“Caliber Comics are an iconic comic book publisher, and we at 1X2gaming are pleased to be able to offer our players branded games for the first time, in what is another significant step for us as a slots developer,” said1X2gaming’s chief marketing officer Kevin Reid.

Caliber Comics CEO and founder Gary Reed added: It’s great to see some of our titles make their way into the gaming arena. I have to say, it’s a thrill to see Deadworld spinning in the branded slots and knowing that Justice Machine and Legend Lore will have expanded story development in the games which is sure to please the slot players.”

Since its inception in 1989, US-based Caliber Comics has published over 1,400 comics and graphic novels. It ceased publishing in 2000, but resumed activities in 2014, focusing primarily on original graphic novels and collections of previously released material.
