Amaya launches daily fantasy sports service StarsDraft.com

Amaya, the Canadian parent company of PokerStars, has launched daily fantasy sports website StarsDraft.com.

The launch comes after Amaya announced in August the acquisition of daily fantasy sports operator Victiv for an undisclosed sum.

Under the arrangement, Victiv has been renamed as StarsDraft, but will continue to be managed by the current Victiv team. The service will be available in selected US markets and later through PokerStars.

The relaunch and rebranding of the service has been unveiled just days before the start of the new NFL American football season this Thursday.

Changes to the service have been mostly cosmetic at this stage, according to observers in the sector. Starsdraft.com will continue to offer games featuring the four US major leagues in American football, baseball, basketball and ice hockey, as well as golf.

In August, Victiv chief executive officer Matthew Primeaux said: “StarsDraft will combine Victiv’s innovative platform and experienced DFS team with Amaya’s expansive consumer base and operational excellence as the world’s preeminent online gaming brand.

“We intend to capitalise on what we believe is strong crossover between online poker players and daily fantasy sports.”
