Nevada hit by third consecutive month of revenue decline

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has revealed that the US state’s gambling market suffered a third consecutive month of revenue decline in August.

Revenue for August amounted to $908.3 million (€813.2 million), down 1.4% on the amount posted in the corresponding month last year.

The state regulator body cited the impact of a struggling baccarat market as one of the main reasons behind the overall decline, with revenue from such gaming activities down 25.1% on a year-on-year basis to $127 million.

Losses were also recorded within blackjack, roulette and poker, the latter of which includes online poker activities.

Total revenue for poker in August represents the lowest monthly figure this year, with the $8.5 million amount slightly down on the previously monthly low of $8.51 million, recorded in April.

The August figure is also some way off a yearly high of $15.8 million posted in June of this year, despite the ongoing efforts of internet poker operators in the state.

Despite the decline in August, total gambling revenue in Nevada is currently up by just under 1% on a year-on-year basis.
