NetBet, the first operator to be licensed in the newly-regulated Romanian iGaming market, has agreed a partnership with the country’s most successful football club, FC Steaua Bucuresti.
The deal covers the current Liga I season, with the club describing the partnership as serving its strategy of strengthening its brand.
It believes NetBet will serve as the ideal partner, capable of providing the know-how and means to promote the club online, via social networks and ultimately on all channels through which it offers its services.
NetBet, which was awarded a licence by the National Office for Gambling (ONJN) in July this year, said that the deal will guarantee its prestige and ensure it maintains a leading position in Romania’s online gaming market.
Steaua Bucuresti joins NetBet’s other footballing partners such as Barclays Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, French side Saint-Etienne, Germany’s VFL Gummerbach and its ambassador, former Romania international Dan Petrescu.
“We made the right move in associating with a strong and dynamic online representative since modern brands’ evolution mostly happens in the online environment,” Steaua president Valeriu Argaseala commented. “It is safe to declare that NetBet is the right choice for our objective. I foresee a great season for football playing as well as for the club’s image.”
NetBet chief marketing officer Alexandre Mangaud said the operator shared a passion for football with the team, “with its emotions, surprises and its wonderful capacity of bringing people together.”

The partners will launch joint promotional projects and provide fans with high quality odds alongside bonuses, promotions and invitations to major events, as well as other exclusive offers. One key target, Netbet added, is to increase Steaua’s fan base – “an essential objective of all parties involved,” the operator said.
