IG Group has announced that Peter Hetherington, who has been serving as chief executive on an interim basis, has been appointed to the role on a full-time basis.
Hetherington took over as interim chief executive in October following the retirement of Tim Howkins, a move confirmed by the spread betting company in July.
Previously serving as chief operating officer, Hetherington has been an IG Group board member since 2002.
“I am delighted to take on the role of CEO of IG; I will be supported by a great team with a clear vision and we will work extremely hard to deliver continued success for all of our stakeholders,” Hetherington said.
IG chairman Andy Green added: “Following an extremely thorough search process, which considered the merits of a number of external candidates, the board is very pleased to appoint Peter as CEO.
“Peter has been central to the development of IG to this point and the board is confident that Peter is the right person to lead IG and to deliver the next phase of growth.”
