International Game Technology (IGT) has followed the launch of a land-based slots based on the Netflix hit series House of Cards with a free-to-play version now available on DoubleDown Casino.
The social gaming variant complements the supplier’s two land-based branded games, House of Cards Power and Money and House of Cards Welcome to Washington, which are set to be placed in casinos during the first quarter of 2016.
“As part of our successful cross-platform content distribution strategy, IGT is thrilled to bring another famed licensed title to DoubleDown Casino players with the launch of House of Cards Slots for desktop and mobile,” DoubleDown Interactive senior vice president and general manager Joe Sigrist said.
“IGT has a deep history in leveraging licensed brands to create dynamic player experiences, and with House of Cards, we’ve taken iconic elements from the show and created gaming experiences that fans will be able to enjoy at their favourite casino and in a social gaming environment.”
House of Cards premiered on Netflix in 2013, and has since become one of the streaming service’s biggest hits. It stars Oscar winner Kevin Spacey as Senator, then President, Frank Underwood, and Robin Wright as his wife Claire.
The casino games feature reels full of cast members, iconic memorabilia from the show and other iconic images, with wild symbols triggering free games bonuses and allowing for large virtual jackpots.
