Sportsbook Review reported last week that an investigation was underway following claims made by a player that his MarathonBet account was closed a month ago along with his $2,300 balance.
The player claimed that he believed his account was in good standing and that he had completed the KYC process at the betting site.
MarathonBet has since discussed the case with SBR and clarified their stance.
The player has yet to provide a proof of address for his account, which is a standard part of the Know Your Customer process. Additionally, the player claimed that one of the wagers associated with his account were not placed by him, which prompted MarathonBet to block his account (which conflicts with what the player shared originally that his account was simply “closed”).
MarathonBet will reactivate the player’s account and honor his full balance provided the player can comply with the proof of address requirement.
The online betting site holds a license from both the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
