Spanish national gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has revealed that the country’s online gaming sector experienced further year-on-year revenue growth during the three months to June 30.
Revenue generated by licensed sites in the second quarter came in at €121.3m ($141.9m), up 22.6% on the corresponding period last year.
The overall revenue rise comes after the DGOJ also posted year-on-year growth for the first quarter of the year, with total revenue in the opening three months of the year amounting to €122.7m.
Sports betting revenue reached €60.1m in Q2, which is 12.3% more than in the same period last year, but almost 15% less than in the opening quarter of 2017.
Other stand-out results in the second quarter include casino revenue of €42.9m, up 52.5% last year, while slots revenue rocketed 84% year-on-year to €21.5m and live roulette revenue amounting to €9.5m.
In addition, the DGOJ said that online poker revenue increased by almost 5% on a year-on-year basis in the second quarter to €14.4m, despite cash game stakes dropping 5.5%.
