Playtech seals technology partnership with Colombia’s Wplay

playtech-2Playtech has entered into a long-term structured agreement with Aquila Global Group SAS, operator of the Colombian gaming and betting brand Wplay.
Under the deal, Playtech will serve as Wplay’s strategic technology partner, delivering its omni-channel products alongside operational and marketing services across the brand’s retail and online operations.
Playtech will migrate all of Wplay’s retail and online activity to its IMS player management platform. Playtech will also exclusively power all software across Wplay’s regulated verticals, including its sports and casino offering with the addition of third-party games through the Playtech open platform.
Meanwhile, Playtech will provide CRM and marketing expertise and personnel to Wplay, as well as make structured investments to deliver platform technology, software and marketing expertise. This arrangement will see Playtech receive a share of profits and revenue share, in line with its regular business model.
“As outlined at the interim results, our pipeline of new licensees is strong across all segments of our core B2B offering,” Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer said.
“This agreement demonstrates the execution of our strategy to continue to deliver structured agreements with the leading brands in the most attractive markets globally.
“Latin America remains a key market for us and with this long-term partnership with Wplay we have added another important strategic partner in the region.”
Wplay was the first brand to secure a licence to operate in Colombia’s regulated igaming market in June 2017.
Wplay president Julio César Tamayo added: “In addition to strengthening Wplay’s leadership in Colombia this agreement will deliver the technology and expertise required to take the market in Colombia to the next level.
“Playtech has the track record and necessary scale to deliver industry leading software, marketing and responsible gambling tools to the number one brand in Colombia.”
The new deal comes after Playtech earlier this month also entered into a new partnership with GVC Holdings to launch Elevation, a new, dedicated live casino studio for the operator
It will be housed in a purpose-built space, initially featuring five blackjack tables and a roulette studio, with additional tables and games to follow over the coming two months.
