Addison Global-owned sports betting brand MoPlay has signed up as a member of the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV).
MoPlay joins the likes of Sky Bet, William Hill, bet365, Paddy Power Betfair and Interwetten as a member of the organisation, which represents operators that are active in Germany.
Since being founded in 2018, MoPlay has established a presence in Germany, helped by its partnership with Bundesliga football club Hertha BSC.
Aside from Germany, MoPlay operates in markets such as the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Austria. The brand also went live in Mexico last week.
“As a new member of the DSWV, we are expressly committed to Germany and will participate in the discussion on future sports betting regulation,” MoPlay chief executive Jürgen Reutter said. “Our innovative betting product focusing on mobile devices in combination with our young brand will also be a growth driver in Germany.”
DSWV president Mathias Dahms added: “We warmly welcome MoPlay to our association and look forward to supporting the international start-up, led by experienced managers from the European igaming sector, as a powerful new member.”
The addition of MoPlay as a member of the DSWV comes after the organisation last month called for a root-and-branch overhaul of Germany’s current gambling regulatory framework.
Dahms said that with operators expected to adhere to the restrictive terms of the third amended State Treaty on Gambling until 30 June 2021, the market should be significantly expanded under the legislation that replaces it.
