Africa Airtel, the African subsidiary of telecommunications provider Airtel, has announced the launch of Airtel Games Club, a flat-fee mobile gaming subscription service for premium mobile games.
According to the Worldstagegroup.com website, Africa Airtel will link up with mobile games developer and publisher Nazara Technologies to allow customers to download premium mobile titles such as FIFA 14, Need For Speed and Bejeweled.
The new service will initially be available in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Zambia. Airtel said that this would be expanded to all its operations in Africa by the end of this year.
“With over 50% of its population below the age of 25, Africa is the world’s youngest continent,” Airtel Africa’s chief operating officer, Andre Beyers, said. “The Airtel Games Club initiative ensures that all the gaming needs of our young customers will be met.”
“We design our services and optimise content specifically for mobile games, offering users a broad portfolio of quality games that are easy to download and pay for.”
