B2B fantasy sports supplier Scout Gaming is to enter the Balkan region for the first time through an omni-channel agreement with local operator Meridianbet.
The partnership covers both online and Meridianbet’s chain of retail outlets in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Meridianbet is a leading brand in each of the three markets, and will now expand its offering with the addition of Scout’s daily fantasy sports product.
Integration is expected to start during November, and is expected to be rolled out early in 2021.
“We are continuing to build out our network of market leading operators on a global scale,” said Joakim Renman, Scout Gaming’s chief commercial officer.
“Meridianbet fit perfectly into this narrative, having stayed at the forefront of positive development in the Balkans for over 30 years. We’re especially glad for the people in this region who for the first time ever will be able to access and enjoy Scout’s best-in-breed digital gaming experience.”
Meridianbet chief executive Zoran Milosevic said the operator sees fantasy sports as a way of bringing entertainment to players.
“We have watched the fantasy market taking off in Europe and want to ensure we stay on top of this development,” he said.
“By providing our customers with Scouts content we live up to our promise of having the best product on the market.
“We see tremendous growth possibilities for this fairly new sports entertainment format and are certain that it will be well received by customers.”
In July, Scout raised SEK75m (€7.3m/$8.3m) through the issuance of 1.84m shares through a book-building procedure that was authorised at its annual general meeting on 25 May. At the time, chief executive Andreas Ternström described the company as being in an “intensive growth phase”.
For the first half of the year, meanwhile, the business almost doubled revenue to SEK14.9m.
