Gunman hunted after Sheffield bookmakers raid

betfredshop1A gunman escaped with about £500 after raiding a Sheffield bookmakers.Police were called to Betfred,Whitham Road, Broomhill, following reports of an armed robbery.

A man, believed to have been carrying a gun, walked into the store on Friday, just before 8.40pm.

He threatened staff before escaping with the cash on a scooter with another man.

No-one was hurt during the incident and no shots were fired.

Mark Pearson, for Betfred, said: “Obviously we take this matter very seriously.

“The safety of our staff and customers is paramount to us and we will be cooperating with the police in their investigation.”

Detectives are now investigating the armed robbery.
