Sportech Venues, owner and operator of Winners betting and entertainment venues in the state, has completed a major upgrade of its MyWinners.com website.
Launched in 2013, MyWinners.com is the only legal horseracing betting website in Connecticut.
Sportech Venues said the updates include an improved interface that will enhance the betting experience of customers. The firm is now planning a marketing drive to promote its online service.
In addition, Sportech Venues has also announced that it is to open a new flagship sports bar, restaurant and betting venue in Bradley, Connecticut.
Customers at the new 300-person venue will be able to bet on horse and greyhound racing, as well access various facilities including a golf simulator, meeting room and 70 large screen televisions.
Ian Penrose, chief executive of Sportech, said: “Since buying our US business three years ago our considerable investment in people, facilities and customers has enabled Sportech to turn around a declining business into one that is growing.
“The development of our business in Connecticut, alongside our extensive betting services business, is an important part of our US strategy and opening the new facility at Bradley and upgrading MyWinners.com are significant steps forward.”
Meanwhile, Sportech has also announced an update on its VAT claim in the UK.
As reported by iGaming Business in March 2013, Sportech said that it had been successful in its VAT claim for £95 million (€114.4 million/$154.6 million) including simple interest at the First-tier Tribunal’s Tax Chamber (FTT).
In June 2013, the firm was notified that HMRC, which oversees tax payments in the UK, has been given leave to appeal the decision to the Upper Tribunal and that the appeal hearing would taken place from April 29-30 this year.
Ahead of the hearing, Sportech said it has been in discussions with third parties to explore the possible options to secure financial benefit if the decision is reversed. However, the firm said that such discussions had not resulted in a “mutually acceptable position” and were ended.
Sportech said it remains “confident” in its arguments and of a successful outcome of the appeal.
