Skrill Wins Right to Operate in New Jersey: Will be Only eWallet for Online Gambling

Leading online payments provider Skrill has been approved by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) and will be the only company to offer a digital wallet for regulated gambling in the state of New Jersey.

With a focus on driving high penetration in the newly regulated market, Skrill is now officially authorized to offer its services to gambling operators and enable online gaming in the Garden State.

Founded in 2001, Skrill is one of Europe’s largest online payment processors and among the world’s largest independent digital wallet providers.  More than 36 million account holders and 150,000 merchants use Skrill’s payment gateway solutions.

Skrill operates the largest online gambling wallet globally, with 40 different currencies and 100 payment options including debit cards, credit cards, peer to peer transfers, merchant payouts and automated clearing house (ACH) services.  In the United States, Skrill operates as Skrill USA, Inc. – a registered money service business (MSB) and licensed money transmitter in the state of New Jersey and various other U.S. states.

Neil Steinhardt, CEO of Skrill USA commented:

“We’re extremely excited about the new opportunities opening up in the US market for gambling merchants and consumers. Skrill’s global reach aligned with local expertise makes us the perfect partner to work with businesses in this market.

“The Skrill digital wallet offers merchants a tailored solution to process deposits and withdrawals faster, increase conversion rates and provide full chargeback protection.

“Customers can benefit from the ability to make online payments conveniently and securely at low cost. For gaming customers, being able to conduct high-speed, high conversion payments on any device on the go is vital.”

Skrill is focused on delivering optimised payment solutions across desktop, mobile and tablet. Skrill’s 1-Tap product, launched in 2012, is a mobile payments function designed to streamline the deposit or payment process to just one simple step. By linking to the user’s digital wallet account, 1-Tap makes it significantly easier for gamblers to add funds without having to repeatedly enter their personal details or card information.

Market leading gambling companies in Europe such as bet365, 188BET and BetVictor have already adopted 1-Tap, making the process of depositing cash and placing bets on their platforms far simpler.

Paysafecard, part of the Skrill Group since early 2013, has also been announced as a licensed provider of online gaming payments in DGE New Jersey.
