FSB Tech names Sportingbet founder Blandford as new chairman

Mark Blandford, founder of online betting operator Sportingbet, has been appointed as the new chairman of real-time sportsbook platform provider FSB Technology

After twice setting up and selling a chain of betting shops in the 1980s and 1990s, Blandford went on to found Sportingbet in 1999.

He stepped down from the Sportingbet board in 2007 and has since become an active investor in the digital pay-to-play entertainment market.

“For Mark to agree to become chairman is a huge endorsement of our team and vision,” FSB Technology’s co-founder and chief executive, David McDowell, said. “Mark was quick to spot the value of a modern proprietary sportsbetting platform delivered as a B2B service.”

The appointment of Blandford comes shortly after FSB Technology raised £2.6 million (€3.1 million/$4.2 million) in its third round of funding since 2008.

The firm said that it would use the funding to launch its new managed sportsbetting solution, of which the first customer is white label solutions provider Genting Alderney, as reported by iGaming Business.

Blandford said this deal gives him “great confidence” about FSB Technology’s business model moving forward.

“FSB Tech’s managed sportsbetting solution is the most advanced on the market, while the Genting contract and the strong sales pipeline gives me great confidence in the business model,” Blandford said.
