“What business am I in?” Asked the McDonald’s fast food creator.
The hands flew into the air.
A crescendo of responses all unanimous in their verdict followed.
They were all wrong.
“Real Estate.” Said Kroc.
Just think about your many trips around the world. It doesn’t matter where you are there will always be a McDonalds restaurant sitting on a piece of prime real estate.
Boylesports owner John Boyle is starting to think like Kroc as he unveils plans to purchase the Boylesports headquarters in Finnabair Technology Park in Dundalk when the landlords sell the property at the upcoming Allsops auction.
News report suggest the time is right for Boyle to turn into landlord instead of tenant and that he is willing to pay up to €1.5m for the right to own his own HQ.
Rumors are also afoot that Boyle intends to purchase at least 10 of its retail outlets with 5 in advanced stages of negotiations and another 5 in the infancy stage.
Just before Christmas Boyle also announced plans to purchase retail outlets in the UK, but there is still no concrete news on these plans at the time of writing.
Boylesports owns around 192 retail outlets in Ireland and they have seen turnover double to €1bn in the last eight years.
John O’Shea Takes Down the IPO in Galway
The Boylesports sponsored pro, John O’Shea, has taken down his first poker title after winning the Boylesports sponsored International Poker Open (IPO) in Galway.
The Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) specialist defeated Geoff Healy in heads-up action to take down the €21,780 first prize where he outlasted a juicy field of 606 runners.
“I’ve never put up a live win so it was a great feeling,” O’Shea wrote on his personal blog before jetting out to Singapore for a few weeks of detox.
