Six of the UK’s brightest online poker talents are in the running to be named Online Tournament Player of the Year when The British Poker Awards (www.thebritishpokerawards.com) star-studded gala, comes to the Hippodrome Casino on March 3rd.
Bluff Europe Magazine, organiser of the awards, has introduced the brand new category to recognise the depth of UK talent on the online poker scene.
The nominees are a mix of youth and experience, with three-time BPA award-winner Chris “Moorman1” Moorman and 2012’s Breakthrough Player of the Year Craig “mcc3991” McCorkell looking to add new honours.
They are joined on the shortlist by Andrew “stato_1” Hulme, who recorded 12 separate five-figure scores in a remarkable 2013, and Chris “NigDawG” Brammer, who followed up a World Series of Poker Europe final table in 2012 with two six-figure scored including first place in the prestigious FTOPS Event 1.
The final two nominees are online star Charlie “Chaz_man_chaz” Combes and European Poker Tour champion Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis. Combes carried on his strong 2013 form with a $58,000 score in the PokerStars Sunday Rebuy last month, while Lewis recorded his biggest ever tournament score in August, earning $250,000 and an FTOPS title.
“This was such a strong category that we had to extend the shortlist to six players from the usual five,” said Bluff Europe editor-in-chief Michael Caselli.
“I have run out of superlatives for the tournament talent coming out of the UK, and it’s important for the British Poker Awards to recognise this with this new category.”
The British Poker Awards is organised by Bluff Europe magazine and sponsored by PokerStars.com. It will hold its awards ceremony at the Hippodrome Casino on March 3rd, with live music provided by The Dukes of Mayfair.
Tickets for the general public to attend the awards and meet the starts of the game can be purchased directly from the Hippodrome website.
