Paysafecard co-founder Mueller steps down as CEO

Pre-paid payment provider paysafecard has announced that co-founder Michael Mueller has stepped down from his position as chief executive officer.

Mueller helped co-found paysafecard group in 2000 and served as chief executive officer of the company for the past nine years before leaving the position at the end of February.

Udo Mueller will now take over the role of chief executive officer.

“After 14 years of building and developing the company, my decision to leave paysafecard has not been an easy one,” Michael Mueller said.

“The company is now entering a new chapter in its history, at a time where continued growth in online payments and new technologies are having a profound impact on what businesses and consumers require when it comes to online transactions.”

Paysafecard said that despite Mueller’s departure, it would continue with implement its current expansion plans throughout 2014.

Siegfried Heimgaertner, chief executive officer of Skrill Group and chairman of the paysafecard group supervisory board, added: “The continuity on the board of paysafecard ensures that the company’s success story will continue, based on ongoing innovation and a deep understanding of the needs of both consumers and merchants.
