Virtual sports and gaming machine provider Inspired Gaming Group has signed up its first virtual sports client in the Colombian market, partnering GENTEC, a subsidiary of land-based operator Betancur Group.The deal has been signed ahead of an anticipated change in the country’s gambling legislation that will legalise virtual sports betting. Through its local distributor Algazara, Inspired will supply GENTEC with a range of virtual sports, bet management system and electronic point of sale solution BetBOX.
GENTEC customers will be able to bet on virtual sports including football, horse racing, greyhounds, tennis, speedway and motor racing.
The BetBOX solution is designed to allow operators to broadcast virtual sports every three minutes and allow customers to place bets over-the-counter or via terminals. Inspired’s new BetBuilder kiosks also allow players to view upcoming events, see the latest odds and compile bets.
The products are expected to be rolled out to GENTEC’s 150 venues throughout Colombia before November 2014.
GENTEC general manager David Betancur commented that he was excited about the launch of Inspired’s “world-leading” product, which he described as having a proven track record of quality and revenue generation.
“I believe this is the perfect moment to introduce Inspired’s Virtual Sports to Colombia due to the Football World Cup this summer,” Betancur continued. “We look forward to welcoming this product to our venues and are expecting our sports fans and lottery players alike to enjoy the high frequency of betting entertainment and the range of bet markets available.”
Steve Rogers, senior vice president of virtual sports and mobile for Inspired Gaming, said he was pleased to have found a partner in a market that is “going from strength to strength.”
“We have proven that Inspired’s Virtual Sports typically add 10-15 per cent to sportbook revenues and, as players become more accustomed with sports betting in Colombia, we are confident of success in this market,” Rogers explained.
Colombia’s gambling regulator Coljuegos recently awarded gambling software provider Corredor Empresarial a contract to develop a pari-mutual betting offering, designed to raise funds for public health initiatives. It has also moved to stop online gambling operators from targeting players in the market by warning companies that they will be blocked from applying for a licence should the country open its doors to private operators.
