UK privately-owned gambling firm Bet365 will move its remote gambling operations to Gibraltar following a structural review.
The company said Gibraltar will become its licencing hub with the company operating its international betting businesses under the licences granted by the Government of Gibraltar , while still retaining a UK presence in Stoke-on-Trent.
As one of the city’s largest employers, bet365 said it did not have any redundancy plans as a result of its move to Gibraltar. Existing employees remaining in Stoke-on-Trent will continue to provide contracted support to the Gibraltar operating hub, such as software & technical support, customer services & contracted marketing services.
“As part of the reorganisation, bet365 is augmenting its existing presence in Gibraltar, a jurisdiction that offers a mature & stable environment for international remote gambling operators, a company statement said.
According to the Gibraltar Chronicle, Bet365’s relocation will create around 150 jobs locally.
