Matonis to headline Bitcoin4iGaming Conference

Jon Matonis, executive director of the Bitcoin Foundation, is to headline the opening session at next month’s Bitcoin4iGaming Conference.

Organised by iGaming Business, the event will take an in-depth look at the main issues igaming executives should consider when assessing what the Bitcoin digital currency can offer their respective gaming websites.

The event has secured the backing of various organisations such as the Bitcoin Foundation, which was founded in 2012 as the world’s first member-driven, not-profit digital currency trade association that works to protect, standardise and ensure ongoing development and promotion of Bitcoin.

During the event’s opening session, Matonis will focus on the conference’s theme of educating and exploring the opportunities for Bitcoin and other digital currencies in the igaming sector.

He will give an overview of the Bitcoin landscape, look at the advantages Bitcoin offers to the gaming sector, recent regulatory developments and how Bitcoin can be used successfully in igaming.

“The igaming industry is on the cutting edge of adopting new financial technology for frictionless, international transactions,” Matonis said.

“Our role in educating industry leaders and helping to navigate the Bitcoin ecosystem will result in best practices that could also be applied in advancing global financial inclusion and reducing the high cost of remittances.”

Shona O’Donnell, head of operations for iGaming Business, added: “When we launched the event we knew that the Bitcoin Foundation would play a key role in educating our industry as they have with policy makers, regulatory agencies, and business executives across various sectors.

“The Bitcoin4iGaming Conference aims to bring the iGaming and the Bitcoin communities together for the first time, allowing delegates to network, learn and do business together.”

The Bitcoin4iGaming Conference will take place on November 24 at Dexter House in London.
