Paddy Power announces key senior management appointmentsPaddy Power has announced three senior management appointments that will coincide with Andy McCue assuming the role of chief executive of the Irish gaming company.

Peter O’Donovan has been named as the operator’s new chief product officer, a role in which he will lead a newly-created product function that brings together the technology and product development teams across Paddy Power and Cayetano in Bulgaria.

O’Donovan will also co-ordinate global product innovation while Sportsbet, the company’s Australian business, will have a dotted reporting line to O’Donovan.

Elsewhere, Johnny Hartnett has been appointed as managing director of Paddy Power’s online business.

Hartnett, who currently serves as director of operations at the bookmaker, will now assume responsibility for Paddypower.com and Paddypower.it domains, as well as the Dial-a-Bet and customer operations services.

Finally, Paddy Power has appointed Christian Woolfenden as the new managing director of its UK and Ireland retail business.

Woolfenden has served as Paddy Power’s global marketing director since 2011, a role that the firm plans to fill in due course.

O’Donovan, Hartnett and Woolfenden will assume their new positions on January 1, coinciding with McCue commencing the role of chief executive.

Speaking about the three appointments, McCue said: “These appointments reflect a strategic emphasis on customer and product.

“I am delighted to be filling these positions with high-calibre individuals with a proven track record of success in the group.”
