UK regulator issues reminder over software licences

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has issued a reminder to software providers that they must apply for a licence if the businesses they supply are licensed by the national regulatory body.

From the end of March next year, UKGC-licensed operators are required to only use gambling software from those software businesses that have also acquired a licence from the UKGC.

Software providers are now being advised to apply for the relevant licence at the earliest opportunity in order to avoid any potential delays.

Speaking about the licensing process, a UKGC spokesperson said: “Licence applications normally take six weeks to process but can take longer if the application is incomplete or the Commission needs to investigate further.

“We are therefore advising software providers who need a licence to make their applications as soon as possible and preferably before December 31.”
