Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has announced that Andy McCue has begun his role as the new chief executive officer of the company.
Paddy Power first announced in September last year that McCue would replace Patrick Kennedy at the beginning of this month.
Kennedy, who was named chief executive officer on January 2006 after having joined the bookmaker in the previous year, has stepped down from the board as a result of McCue’s appointment.
An official Paddy Power announcement in May last year suggested Kennedy would step down from his role as chief executive officer in April of this year, but an updated statement in September confirmed the change would take place at an earlier date.
Speaking at the time of his appointment, McCue said: “Patrick has transformed the business over the last 10 years, strongly positioning us in attractive markets, which are delivering good payback.
“We have a tremendous team and I very much look forward to working with them to build on that success by continuing to engage customers with the best value, product and brand.”
Last month, Paddy Power also announced that it would be making a number of other key senior management appointments to coincide with McCue assuming his new role.
Peter O’Donovan has been named as the operator’s new chief product officer, Johnny Hartnett has been appointed as managing director of Paddy Power’s online business and Christian Woolfenden will assume the role as managing director of UK and Ireland retail business.
