Nektan appoints Nielsen’s David Gosen as new CEO

London-listed mobile gaming platform provider Nektan has appointed David Gosen as its new chief executive, replacing Gary Shaw who takes on the role of executive chairman. David Gosen becomes CEO with immediate effect, having most recently served as European managing director of media, digital and mobile for consumer monitoring giant Nielsen.

He assumes responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations and implementing the business’ short- and long-term strategy, with a focus on European expansion and product development.

His predecessor as CEO, Gary Shaw, will now serves as the company’s executive chairman, taking charge of new market expansion and establishing strategic partnerships.

Gosen spent four years at Nielsen and is an experienced console gaming executive, having worked for a number of high-profile companies such as Microsoft and Nintendo.

He spent over two and a half years as vice president of Xbox and Xbox Live for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Microsoft, having joined from mobile entertainment business I-Play in 2008. Before joining I-Play as CEO and president in 2004, he served as European managing director for Nintendo.

He has also held roles with leading global companies including BSkyB, telecommunications giant One2One (now O2), and drinks distributors PepsiCo and Coca-Cola.

Nektan said that Gosen had joined the company at a pivotal time for the business. The company has recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, and is pursuing expansion in the US.

“I am delighted that David has decided to join Nektan as we now start to develop our products to capitalise on much larger opportunities,” executive chairman Smith commented. “David’s background and abilities will be a key building block towards future success in our key markets in Europe and North America.”
