Online betting and casino operator Betway has moved to enhance its sports sponsorship portfolio in the UK by securing deals with a number of major horseracing events.
Betway will sponsor the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster in March 28, a race that is known as the traditional curtain raiser to the UK Flat season.
The company will also lend its name to the Chester Cup race at Chester’s Boodles Meetings on May 6.
In addition, Betway will sponsor the Yorkshire Cup and the Great Voltigeur Stakes, which will both take place in York on May 15 and august 19 respectively.
The new deals come after Betway in October struck an agreement to become the title sponsor of the Queen Mother Champion Chase, one of the showpiece races at the annual Cheltenham Festival UK horseracing event.
Betway’s UK sponsorship portfolio also stretches across other sports, such as darts and pool.
Betway spokesperson Alan Alger said: “Betway wanted to continue investing heavily in UK racing after taking over the Champion Chase and are thrilled to be visiting some of the country’s finest courses over the season for a number of the calendar’s most historic contests.
“We won’t stop there and are in the process of adding other races to our portfolio.
“The UK POC tax has been criticised by many, but we feel it is a sign that the industry is maturing in a regulated and safe way and it won’t stop us supporting racing through sponsorship.
“It’s an exciting time for us and we look forward to fostering partnerships with racecourses and bringing great offers to our customers in the coming months.”
